My feet wriggle into the comfort of earth, my soul flies amongst shimmering jewels on a midnight velvet sky. The endless possibilities of distant homes ignite my imagination, sparking poetry, so foreign to my tongue. The stars make poets of us all.
Y’all know how much I love my fur baby, Rani.
Rani has terrible doggy breath at the moment because of a build up of plaque after four months in a kennel where her food wasn’t regulated, and her teeth weren’t regularly brushed. Despite the bad breath, she’s an adorable little pup.
So for today’s post, I’m going to link you to her Facebook page. I (she) posts photos, videos and self-care tips over there. It’s a bit of silly fun in a hectic, overwhelming world.
Since I started this challenge with a contentious topic, I figured I might as well broach the subject of the big C. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? [peeks from behind the sofa]
Cancer. Even the word is so infused with emotions that it sits leaden and sharp in your mouth. Through its long history, it’s been imbued with the power to strike terror.
Four and a half years ago, we moved to the US. “A permanent move!” we thought. We bought a house, found the right school for the kids (which turned into the wrong school, so we had to swap schools), bought cars, and got involved in a community (several communities really, but who’s counting?).
I know. I’m writing about a taboo subject, and it’s bound to polarise opinions. When have you known me to shy away from a contentious issue? Let me be clear that this isn’t an invitation to tell me how wrong you think I am. It’s an invitation to read my perspective. You may agree, you may not.
